Business Advisory Graduate

After getting to work and catching up with some of the offices, I start my computer and make sure my plants are still alive. As a Business Advisory Grad my main responsibilities include preparing financial statements and tax returns for clients.

5.30 AM

I like to start my mornings early to ensure I have enough time to set my day up properly. This morning I headed to the gym before getting ready for work and driving to the Busselton Office. It’s about a 45-minute drive from where I live in Bunbury, so I try to make sure I have a good playlist or podcast ready for the morning commute!

8.30 AM

After getting to work and catching up with some of the offices, I start my computer and make sure my plants are still alive. As a Business Advisory Grad my main responsibilities include preparing financial statements and tax returns for clients. Usually, I would write out my To-Do list if I have a client’s work to continue with or would seek out Angus (Partner) to receive my next task.

However, today was a bit different with Simon (Principal) and I hosting a Make Xero Count workshop in the Busselton Office, where we ran through the various aspects Xero can offer existing and potential clients, as well as solving any ‘pains’ a client may have to make their business processing a lot smoother. It was great for me to hear the discussion amongst the business owner attendees and get some insights into what their accounting issues are.

2.30 PM

Around 2:30 pm the office tends to migrate towards the kitchen for afternoon tea and coffee, where we catch up as our team members tend to move between Margaret River and Busselton often. Afterwards, I attended meetings with colleagues to discuss my progress on the client’s work and any queries I have.

4.00 PM

The last hour of my day was spent in an Allied Health sector meeting. This group involves targeting Allied Health businesses through articles, attending events related to the industry and holding training sessions to meet with potential clients. During the meeting, we discussed how the Hour of Xero Power online training was travelling and our progress on articles and How-to-Xero guides.

5.00 PM

It’s social netball night! I finish my day by tidying up my desk and looking through my list to see what work I didn’t manage to finish today. As I live closer to Bunbury, I tend to take a walk around Busselton as the games are a bit later before heading over to the courts.
