The department is very good about diversity and I would say it is the most LGBT friendly department across the government portfolio.

Very good, however parental leave is not very equitable, there is still a slight but noticeable gap in gender diversity at the senior executive level, and there is a noticeable lack of cultural diversity at the senior executive level.

Health is about 70% female employees. We have a Pride network for LGBT people, and they're very engaged and make me feel safe at work. I have never faced discrimination in the workplace for my gender or sexuality.

Health is a very progressive agency when it comes to embracing diversity and make the workplace safe and accessible for everyone. We have lots of diversity training opportunities and staff networks that do incredible work for women, ethnic minorities, the LGBTQI+ community, Indigenous staff and more. While we are a mostly female agency, there is still work to be done on ensuring more women move up to leadership positions at the SES level.

they talk the talk, but leadership and representation is poor. lack of reckoning of the government's own role in oppressing minorities.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
I believe that they offer internships, apprentice roles and training and development for those from less privileged backgrounds.

Not a lot to be honest, at least that I know of. Most people here have gone to private schools and have a very high level of education. More could be done to attract people from less privileged backgrounds.

We have flexible leave arrangements and opportunities, and diversity and accessibility are embedded in our recruitment processes.

good early-stage salary, but lack of competitiveness of later-stage salaries can deter less privileged applicants
