Culture at Coles

8.3
8.3 rating for Culture, based on 44 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Strong flexible working culture No micromanagement from managers - everyone has their own responsibility over their role Great opportunities for grads to connect socially, although breaking into the wider workforce socially is a little bit more difficult

Great culture inside of work, small team that cares about well-being first. Socializing with colleagues that are not graduates outside of work does not happen, but often there is socialisation outside of work with other graduates.

Within my team particularly, everyone supports each other to get the job done. They celebrate the small wins, birthday celebrations and talk about the weekend. Having team work interstate makes it hard to socialise outside of work but when we have events on, the team come down to Melbourne and we go out and do something as a whole team. The graduate community also try and book things on outside of work so everyone can get together and socialise and talk about their experiences, as well as network.

people are very friendly and helpful, there are lots of event at the head office and opportunities to network having the option to work from home or the office is a big plus, although it would be good to have more meetings in person rather than online there is some but not a lot of socialising after work

Culture varies from team to team People are generally friendly, however, the level of social interaction varies between teams Some hierarchy, however. contribution of ideas from everyone is encouraged Strong culture of team work and collaboration Lack of work-life balance

Company culture in the office is very dependent on your team. My team does celebrations for birthdays, going away and milestones reached. Everyone is friendly and very willing to help. Hierarchy in the company is not a boundary and everyone is very open to talk to you and treat you like equals.

Top down hiearchy, chilled culture so far. Under current of stress throughout the business is obvious for higher up managers due to an expectation to perform.

The company culture of Coles is very lighthearted and jovial with weekly events onsite to participate in. Moreover, once a month we have opportunities to get together with the wider team, after hours for team building or to celebrate someone's success.

Fast pace at work and willing to help each other. As graduate, there are a lot of support programs and activities.

People focused, there are line managers, General Manager and partners. Close knit team of colleagues

I think that there is a really nice culture in the office for the most part, but i also think that sometimes when people get too stressed, they can come across as snappy and quite rude - especially over email.

The culture is fast paced and demanding, although there are always fun events to break up the work aspect and engage with the company in a different manner. Learning and progression is fostered, although sometimes people are unable to step away from work due to time-pressures and deadlines. There are too many meetings and some people work after hours.

structure is great but hierarchy feels quite apparent - often based on role hierarchy or simply people who have been with the company for a lot longer. Cooperation and teamwork are both great and everyone is very friendly and willing to collaborate. Socialising in the office is welcomed and that then encourages socialising outside of work which creates and nurtures relationships.

Coles is extremely flexible and supportive of work-life balance. The atmosphere and 'vibe' of the workplace is fun, supportive and sociable, allowing people to develop meaningful relationships with one another at work. Some of my closest friends have come from Coles, thanks in large to how great the culture is!

Culture is fine and makes for a great work environment. There is great communication and teamwork. I prefer to not participate in outside of work experiences. And I have the ability to deny meetings outside of work

The company holds promotional events in the office which gets a lot of people engaged and essentially makes going to work fun. Lots of teams will have Friday night drinks, especially to celebrate someone's birthday, a milestone or as a going away celebration There is structure and hierarchy within the company, as with any other, however it is not strongly felt amongst everyone. No matter the level of position someone is in, they are very open to talking and guiding you in the right direction.

Great supportive and empathetic culture at work I do not participate in activities with colleagues outside of work

supportive, inclusive

Personally I find the company pushes many initiatives to build culture- how effective this is on a boarder scale I am unsure, however within my small team I find a good level of cooperation/team work which builds good culture
