Your role

Morgan Stanley's Firm Risk Management (FRM) partners with business units to boost risk-adjusted returns, provides strategic advice to the Board, and protects the firm from a range of risks, aligning with business objectives.

The intern will work closely with teams at all levels of the organization within and outside of FRM, including frequent communication with various stakeholders in the US/Europe/Asia Pacific. 

Depending on business needs, the selected individual will get an opportunity to work in any of the below risk strips but not limited to:

  • The Credit Risk Management Department (CRM) in FRM safeguards the firm against losses arising from defaults by lending and trading counterparts for institutional and wealth management clients.
  • The Liquidity Risk team in Mumbai provides analysis and reporting to ensure the adequacy of the firm's funding and liquidity resources for its business activities.
  • The Electronic Trading Risk team in Mumbai supports independent oversight of the firm's electronic trading activity through analysis and reporting.
  • The Risk Data and Strategy (RD&S) team in FRM focuses on data standards, governance, and compliance monitoring of Risk Data Domains, adhering to the Risk Data Policy and BCBS 239 Principles.
  • Risk Analysis and Reporting, a vital part of FRM, conducts detailed risk analysis, creates comprehensive risk reports, and develops strategic reporting solutions.

Training & development 

Summer Analysts will dedicate eight to ten weeks to assigned projects, enabling them to develop a solid grasp of the business and the integral role played by the team in its operations.

About you

Education, skills, and qualities required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Science, or related disciplines. 
  • Pursuing MBA in Finance/Technology. 
  • Good understanding of risk management concepts and financial products. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize, comfortable working under pressure and on tight deadlines. 
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail. 
  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel. 
  • Good to have skills: VBA, SQL querying, Python, Power BI, Tableau.
