Diversity at Mainfreight Australia

8.1
8.1 rating for Diversity, based on 17 reviews
Please provide further information on diversity with respect to women, ethnic minorities and LGBT. Please comment on issues such as recruitment, retention, promotion, child care, maternity leave, etc.
Recruitment is fair an equal. I also find this is the case with our promotion. The best person will get the job, regardless of gender or background. Diversity is always a constant goal and while I feel we have good gender diversity, we could be better with diversifying our workplace.

I believe that Mainfreight is very diverse, high respect to women and especially in the transport environment, Mainfreight is definitely not male-dominated. We are all human doesn't matter what ethnic, beliefs or interests we have. We are all supported and equal here.

The industry we operate in is very male-dominated however the women band together and support each other. We are definitely making leaps and bounds of redefining "typical male" roles into a non-gender role. We have a very diverse team all across the world which is always fun! People who come to work at Mainfreight that are passionate about the company generally don't move on with plenty of team who have worked in the business for 25+ years.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
We don't do anything different, the same process will apply. We don't like to make people feel different or less privileged. They will be treated with respect and have support.

We have outreach programs to schools in areas that are classed as "low socio-economic areas". Students can apply to work 1day a week in the warehouse which provides them with real world work experience. We also do "BooksInHomes" which is super rewarding.
