About GMHBA

GMHBA is an Australian not-for-profit health insurance and health care company with over 85 years of experience.

You might know us best from one of our private health insurance (PHI) brands – GMHBA and Frank.  If you live in Geelong or barrack for our local team, you likely know us through our proud affiliation with the Geelong Football Club and the GMHBA Stadium.

Our Head Office is located in Geelong, a few minutes walk from the beautiful waterfront bay area of Geelong, and on the doorstep of Victoria’s world-famous surf beaches and the Great Ocean Road.  We offer a remarkable lifestyle.

What you might not know, is that we are also a provider of a number of eye care, dental care, GP and allied health clinics all across Geelong and regional Victoria, and we have some pretty exciting plans for growth in the future.

What you’ll do

Joining GMHBA’s tech team now means being part of a transformative journey towards a cloud-first approach. This is a great time for early career professionals to learn and grow with us, as we implement innovative cloud solutions that drive our business forward.  Our solutions are designed to be future-proof, offering reliability and flexibility that are essential in today’s fast-paced tech environment.

During our 18 month program, you can expect lots of collaboration with key stakeholders, exciting challenges to solve, and opportunities to get hands on with some market leading tools and technology.  You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment where your contributions are valued.

You will complete 2 x 9 month rotations across two of our Technology teams where you will learn about our business and enjoy working with a different team of professionals who are all experts in their field.

Depending on your rotations, you could:

  • Work on improving the digital journey a prospective member takes to review and select the most appropriate product for their needs; assist writing requirements and engaging with mobile app user interface developers in bringing new mobile app features to life; work with designers and developers to bring improvements to our claiming experience; or work with developers to understand what it takes to develop “secure code” all the way through the development lifecycle  (Digital Products rotation)
  • Perform ongoing assessments of our exposure to vulnerabilities and assist with the definition and tracking of remediation activities; facilitate effective triage to Information Security incidents of requests and coordinate response activities; or help deliver our annual Info Security awareness program including phishing testing (Information Security rotation)
  • Assist in the migration of on-premises systems to cloud platforms like Azure; develop and implement automation scripts using tools like Terraform and Azure Pipelines; or work on projects to enhance network security, including configuring and managing virtual networking components within MS Azure (Infrastructure rotation)
  • Provide level 2 and 3 application support across the Delivery portfolio; undertake root cause analysis on reported incidents; or manage problems throughout their lifecycle including logging, reproducing, escalating to resolver groups or developing fixes, testing and communication back to stakeholders (Delivery rotation)

Training and Development

You will be supported every step of the way starting with a comprehensive induction program, program buddies, regular graduate cohort catch ups, technical training opportunities and mentoring by one of our senior leaders.  We live care, and we'll care for your career too - our Program Manager is a qualified Careers Practitioner who will ensure you are supported throughout the entire program.

Culture and Vibe

We're proud to have been recognised in 2025 as one of the top Grad Programs in Australia (small intakes) by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers.  And as a Health Insurer and Health care provider, we take your wellbeing and work life balance seriously - in fact, our current grads say the best things about working here are:

"Company culture, work life balance, exciting work"

"Really relaxed place to work, able to work in a style that suits me and my skill set"

About You

We’re looking for people who are comfortable working with complexity, who have curious minds, great communication skills, and who love learning and tackling new problems.  Basically, having a passion for all things Tech!
