“The STEM Cadetship helps students understand the roles available in the field and allows them to get a foot in the door while studying at university.”

I joined the STEM Cadetship Program as an engineering student in Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) and completed the Program alongside my studies.

I was drawn to the appeal of getting a head-start on work in my field and having the opportunity to join Defence full-time when I finished my studies. The Program also offered flexibility and a wide range of experiences.

The Program was very enjoyable. I was lucky enough to be part of 2 different teams and experienced both acquisition and sustainment phases.

In my first team, I attended and participated in large-scale vehicle testing. I was surprised by the scale and types of testing conducted at Defence.

The STEM Cadetship helps students understand the types of roles available in the field and gives them a foot in the door while studying at university.

Today, I enjoy working in Defence as a full-time APS4 Systems Engineer and I am still learning new things every day.
