    About the Job

    As a Part Time Navy Psychologist, you will utilise your existing qualifications to provide a range of psychology services in a multidisciplinary environment and liaise with Navy and Australian Defence Force (ADF) Commanders about the services they provide.

    You'll work in a tight-knit team to conduct critical incident mental health support responses and be responsible for the delivery of mental health services and mental health screening for Navy personnel returning from operational deployments.

    As part of the Navy Reserve Psychology Branch, you'll provide surge capability for operational mental health services, support the delivery of organisational psychology services and conduct specific research projects to evaluate mental health promotion programs.

    To prepare for delivering deployed operational psychology services, you will gain experience in the provision of these services ashore, either on a Navy establishment or in conjunction with other ADF psychology providers. There will also be the opportunity to attend short courses and exercises to train in ADF psychology, mental health policies and the delivery of psychology at sea.

    Required skills and duties:

    • Delivery of operational mental health and psychology services in the maritime environment, including the delivery of brief mental health services and interventions, psychological assessments and mental health screenings
    • Conduct critical incident mental health support responses in the maritime environment
    • Provide a surge capability for operational mental health services at Navy operational bases, including operational mental health screening
    • Provide a surge capacity to deliver organisational psychology services within Navy Psychology sections, including selection activities, suitability assessments and brief counselling and interventions
    • Support the delivery of mental health training and provision of organisational interventions for Command

    Salary:

    You'll be paid to complete military and initial employment training. Upon completion, you'll enjoy a tax-free daily rate of up to $270 per day.
