The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking for highly motivated ICT graduates from a wide array of disciplines and life experiences, who want to play a part in shaping Australia's future and informing the decision making process.

As an ICT graduate in the ABS you may work in one of these areas:

  • Applications Development and support
  • ICT Infrastructure and Cloud Services
  • IT Service Management, ICT services and end user support
  • Process Engineering, Testing and Automation capabilities
  • Cyber and Protective Security

Examples of ICT graduate job roles in the ABS include Database and Data Administrators, Development and Programming Officers, ICT Access Officers, ICT Infrastructure Support Officers, Networks and Telecommunications Officers, Systems Administrators, Systems Analysts, Systems Integration Officers, Test Analysts and Web Administrators.

Our graduate program is a 12 month program that provides practical on-the-job training through team based work or projects. The program is designed to:

  • assist you to transition into the ABS and the Australian Public Service
  • provide you with tailored training and development opportunities
  • gain experience with the statistical cycle and the core business of the ABS
  • improve your understanding of and gain experience in project management
  • develop your skills to effectively contribute to the strategic direction of the ABS.

Please note that the ABS is also recruiting graduates for data roles via a separate recruitment exercise - the 2023 Australian Government Graduate Program -Data Stream.
