From the moment you join Alcoa’s Graduate Program, you are given the opportunity of a permanent career that takes you far and beyond what you’ve ever imagined, setting you on a career path to contribute to a more sustainable world. You will grow professionally, expand technically and become part of our community where you will be inspired and challenged daily.

Our three-year rotational program is designed to provide you with a broad foundation of experience, and the ability to tailor your career path towards your interests and individual goals.

What’s on offer?

  • A permanent job with long-term career development in our local or global operations.
  • An attractive compensation package with many benefits unique to Alcoa.
  • More time doing the things you love with a leisure day scheme offering 13 additional days of leave
  • Monthly “Graduate Days” and team-building activities to build connections with your fellow graduates!
  • Working locally, in an onsite environment enables you to return home to friends or family every night.
  • Inclusion and diversity networks; shaping a culture where everyone is welcome, respected and heard.
  • Be part of our commitment to sustainability, delivering world-class technology and innovations that lead the aluminium industry!
  • A workplace culture that strongly values your safety.

What you’ll be doing

As a Procurement Graduate at Alcoa, you will rotate across our corporate office in Booragoon and our operating locations in the Kwinana, Peel and Upper Southwest regions.  You will learn and develop experience and expertise in:

  • Key procurement processes include supplier selection, commodity management, and contract and supplier performance management.
  • Working on multiple Procurement and Contract activities and projects to meet defined deadlines whilst gaining exposure to low-value transactions and compliance.
  • Gathering and analysing data for the region and at times on a global basis with additional guidance.
  • Building your commercial acumen to become a key contributor to driving business opportunities within the Procurement group.
  • Strategic Procurement activities including participation in tenders and contract negotiations.

Throughout the program, you will be provided with coaching, mentoring, and hands-on and professional training to accelerate your development and maximise your full potential. The best part is that your experience will be diverse; from working in our corporate offices to a local on-site environment within our 2 mine sites and 3 alumina refineries.

You will be provided with an increasing level of responsibility to use your innovative thinking, your motivation to learn and your passion for growth to shape the future of our business. You will be in an open-minded workplace where your ideas will be valued in a supportive environment that encourages you to think outside the box.

If you are on the path to graduating by the end of 2024 or have recently completed tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Logistics & Supply Chain, Law, Engineering or another related discipline, we want to hear from you!

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success you will:

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Use your initiative and take ownership of your work.
  • Have strong communication and well-developed people skills.
  • Think analytically and be open-minded with a creative and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Drive positive outcomes with your ability to engage with and understand your customers.
