Don't be sidelined with busy work or a "special project". Be a valued member of an audit team from day one—with real work and real responsibility. Make a difference by keeping government agencies transparent and accountable. See your work published and tabled in parliament.

See first-hand how senior leaders operate

Enjoy opportunities to work side-by-side and learn from senior leaders inside and outside of the ANAO. Have unmatched access to some of the public service's best and brightest.

See where your ANAO career takes you

Not sure where your career is headed? Here you'll get a strong foundation to build upon. Develop highly regarded people and work skills that'll expand your career options—all while you're learning to audit. Explore your aspirations with flexibility and choice in your placements.

You don't have to be an accountant

If you're motivated, curious, team-minded and skilled in communicating with others—and will fit with our high integrity and performance culture—we'd love to see your application.

We accept all degrees and disciplines into our graduate program. We value you for your unique skills, attributes and experiences and will help you learn the audit technical skills you need.

It's an exciting time to be in audit!

We're a specialist public sector agency that supports the Auditor-General of Australia to conduct audits of Australian Government agencies. We report to the Parliament and are proud of the important role we play in keeping government agencies accountable for their exercise of authority and expenditure of public funds.

Through our audits, we investigate and report on how government agencies operate, including their finances and how they manage programs, implement policy and run IT systems to achieve the aims of government.

As an ANAO auditor, you could examine the Australian Government:

  • program implementation, management and monitoring
  • IT systems
  • financial statements
  • service delivery
  • procurement processes, contract and grants management
  • management of defence assets
  • policy development processes
  • and more!

Think about all the fast-moving policy and implementation challenges faced by the government right now. Along with advances that have been made in technology and analytics, it really is an exciting time to be in audit!

Our office is located in Canberra. Roles will likely include travel around Canberra and interstate.

Head to our website to explore what else you'll see that other grads don't.

Applications for our 2022 graduate program open Monday 22 February and close at 11.59 PM (AEST), Sunday 11 April 2021. Don't miss out.
